Long Island was one of America’s first colonized communities, spanning over 100 miles eastward from the scenic New York Harbor. Long Island is comprised of four counties – Nassau, Suffolk, Kings, and Queens. More than eight million New Yorkers call Long Island home today. Since 1998, Majestic’s professional power washing team has provided top-quality Long Island services. While we’re based in Levittown, our family-owned team offers power washing and window cleaning in more than a dozen nearby Long Island communities, including those listed below.

Levittown

William J. Levitt and his company, Levitt & Sons, constructed a series of suburban housing developments immediately after World War II. Each of Levitt’s family-sized homes – which took a single day to assemble – were mass-produced on assembly lines to accommodate young military families seeking affordable housing during the post-war baby boom. The resulting community of over 17,000 homes was dubbed “Levittown” in Levitt’s honor, and Levittown is widely considered to be the first American suburb. Our window cleaning and pressure washing professionals are proud to provide services to residents of present-day Levittown and surrounding Long Island communities.

Huntington

Aerial view of Huntington Harbor in historic Huntington, New York

Huntington was purchased in 1653 from the Matinecock Tribe by three Oyster Bay residents, who promptly gave the land to settlers who were already inhabiting the region. The name “Huntington” is believed to be a tribute to the birthplace of Oliver Cromwell, Lord Protector of England at the time of the town’s establishment. In 1660, the town’s population of predominantly English settlers voted to secede from the colony of New Amsterdam (now known as New York) and incorporate into Connecticut, later re-incorporating in 1664 when British authorities gained control of the region.

Approximately 200,000 Americans call Huntington home today. The town’s 1940 population of approximately 31,000 grew four times larger by 1960, largely due to the World War II baby boom. Huntington is the hometown of many famous Americans, including poet Walt Whitman, actor Ralph Macchio, and singer Mariah Carey. Huntington gained prominence in pop culture as the setting of beloved T.V. shows The Wonder Years and Growing Pains (despite the latter’s fictional street names) as well as the popular comic strip The Lockhorns. Our power washing and window cleaning professionals proudly serve residents of Huntington and nearby Long Island communities!

Westbury

Businesses, cars and pedestrians on Main Street in downtown Westbury, New York

The region was dubbed “Westbury” in 1675 by one of the area’s first settlers, Henry Willis, after his hometown of Westbury, Wiltshire in England. Early residents – predominantly of the Quaker religion – were among the first Americans to free all slaves within their community in 1775, many of whom expanded the community by establishing their own homesteads and sheep farms.

Settlers from Ireland, Italy, and other countries further developed Westbury throughout subsequent centuries. More affluent residents built mansions throughout the area now known as “Old Westbury,” which was formerly comprised of almost exclusively farms and dairies. Charles Lindbergh launched his historic flight to Paris just outside of downtown Westbury, bringing nationwide attention and acclaim.

Majestic is proud to provide professional window cleaning, pressure washing, and other professional services to residents of modern-day Westbury!

Melville

Entrance to Paramount Theater in downtown Melville, New York

Melville was originally known to Native American locals as Sunsquams. Settlers renamed the area Samuel Ketcham’s Valley after a prominent local resident in the 1600s, later changing it again to Sweet Hollow. Finally, in 1854, school records officially denoted the town as Melville which has remained the name to date. Melville may have been named after the Latin word for honey, “Mel,” due to the large local honeybee population. A trolley line was built in 1909 connecting Melville to nearby Huntington, which was quickly replaced by buses after complaints of frightened farm animals. As of 2010, approximately 19,000 Americans call Melville home. If you’re a Melville resident, contact Majestic to schedule professional window cleaning, power washing, and other professional services.

Brookville

Luxury residential estate in the Village of Brookville, New York

Settlers of modern-day Brookville dubbed the area “Tappentown” after an esteemed local family after its purchase from the Matinecock Tribe in the mid-1600s. The name “Brookville” gained popularity after the civil war, and the village was eventually incorporated into the state of New York in 1931. Brookville was originally comprised of quiet farmland for more than 200 years until wealthy residents began building mansions. The famous St. Joan of Arc Chapel was moved from France to Brookville in the early 1900s before its eventual transition to Wisconsion’s Marquette University. The scenic town is home to approximately 3,600 individuals today.

Upper Brookville

Upper Brookville was named for the brook that once ran adjacent to Wolver Hollow, the area’s main road. The name “Lower Brookville” was originally proposed for the village just prior to its official incorporation in 1932, given its location just south of the larger city of Brookville. However, influential resident Hope Goddard Iselin staunchly opposed the name “Lower Brookville,” stating “I refuse to live in lower anything. If you must call it something, and I suppose you must, call it Upper Brookville.” The area has been known as Upper Brookville ever since.

As of the 2000 census, Upper Brookville was home to 1,801 residents in 568 households, with a median resident age of 40 years.
